Platform | Windows 10 | ||||
Product Version | 0.16 | ||||
Summary | 0002904: Failure to pad sketch drawn on a face which has the same shape
Description | A sketch is drawn and padded. On one of the new faces a second sketch identical to the first is drawn. The second sketch fails to pad. OS: Windows 10 Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.16.6706 (Git) Build type: Release Branch: releases/FreeCAD-0-16 Hash: f86a4e411ff7848dea98d7242f43b7774bee8fa0 Python version: 2.7.8 Qt version: 4.8.7 Coin version: 4.0.0a OCC version: 6.8.0.oce-0.17
Steps To Reproduce | The simplest sketch that exhibits this failure is a teardrop shape. 1) Open a new document. 2) Sketch on xy plane 3) Sketch consists of two lines joined together. The two open ends of the lines are connected by an arc. The arc is constrained to one of the lines of the arc by a tangential constraint. 4) Pad the resulting shape. 5) On one of the resulting faces draw a sketch identical to the sketch of step 3. Constrain the diameter of the arc by equality with external geometry to the arc of the face in the pad. 6) Attempt to pad sketch fails.
Additional Information | I have been unable to gauge the minimal conditions under which this problem occurs. It seems to require at least one tangential and one horizontal or vertical constraint, and the two sketches need to be aligned. I have tried this and similar models in versions of FreeCADfrom FreeCAD-0.15.4671_x64 to version FreeCAD_0.17.10061_x64_dev_win with similar results. Similar problems occur under the current Debian release of FreeCAD

sgrogan pointed out to me that it was possible to force a recompute. This has resolved this issue. Apologies if I have wasted anyone's time. You are all of course well aware of how much we appreciate the splendid work which you all do. Leo |
