Summary | 0002565: Infinite (?) loop in "Create shape from mesh"
Description | Related somewhat to 0002564 I'm loading the same model, except in STL format rather than obj. The model is not loading corrupt, aka parts don't appear to be missing when loaded as an STL. However, "Create shape from mesh" seems to enter an infinite loop - I've left it running for hours, to no avail.
Steps To Reproduce | 1) Open the attached STL. 2) Choose "Create shape from mesh"

I will have a look tomorrow. |

Mesh expert microcelly2 had to jump in and he found the following: he was able to import the stl file with this version: OS: Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.17.10101 (Git) Build type: None Branch: master Hash: 99fa203f323927b0dd027420d4421b577b7420c3 Python version: 2.7.6 Qt version: 4.8.6 Coin version: 4.0.0a OCC version: 6.8.0.oce-0.17 But the mesh was invalid. "Evaluate & repair" found and repaired errors but the mesh was still invalid, I have attached the messages as bp_386.png and the result as gh_mesh.fcstd. I have had a look at the mesh and it has some errors where I cannot see any system behind them, so I guess it is a problem in the stl, and not in FreeCAD. This error should have been discussed in the forum before reporting or at least after Kunda's hint which didn't happen as far as I can see (I guess it is user Rei in the forum). Unless OP gives more information I vote for rejecting this error. |

No response from OP after chrisb replied in 0002565:0008399 Closing. PS Thanks @chrisb |
