Can you upload a picture to see how it looks like?

Of course, they are already uploaded:
1) when I start FreeCAD it sometimes doesn't load the "File" menu. My default configuration is to open a new document and load "Part Design" workbench
2) if I change to any other workbench then the "File" menu shows

Which OSX version do you actually run? On an 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) this issue is not there.

OS X El Capitan, 10.11.3
I have testing it out more deeply and I have detected it only happens if you have set "Part Design" workbench as your default. If you have, for instance, "Part" workbench it always startups correctly with "File" menu.

Actually, when starting up with "Part Design" as default workbench you are able to see the "File" menu but it disappears when it finishes loading everything...

I haven't tried the behavior with other workbenches but I guess once you find the problem you will be able to extrapolate to others...

The default is "Part Design" and it works correctly. I have also tried several startup workbenches and it works well with all of them.

What else does it load once the main window is shown?

May I try uninstalling all 3rd party stuff?

2 new findings:
1) it's not only "File" menu but also "Edit" one
2) if I launch FreeCAD with "Part Design" as default workbench it happens what I told you but if I focus on any other OS app and return to FreeCAD then these two menus are there!

Reseting all Preferences solved the issue, now I'm trying to setup everything as I had in order to see if the problem returns and I'm able to isolate it

After some tests I could not reproduce the problem again.
I think it was related with some kind of Preferences setting with 0.15 and 0.16 but not sure...
